Does changing my mortgage payment date mean I have to make 2 payments?

You can change your mortgage payment date at any time. However, you are obliged to make a mortgage payment each month, so when changing a payment date it could result in 2 mortgage payments being made quite close together.

For example: You currently pay your mortgage towards the end of the month, and you wish to change it towards the beginning of the month. You will make your payment as normal at the end of the month, and provided that the date change has been processed, you will then also pay it again at the start of the following month. This means that the time between the two payments could be very short.

When changing your payment date you should always consider this and ensure you can make the repayments.
