How can we help you?

How do I capture good quality copies of my receipts in my mobile app?

Receipts need to be clear and legible for the app to capture information accurately. You can capture good quality copies of your receipts by following these handy tips:

  • Flatten your receipt and place on a dark surface
  • Move to a well-lit area and turn the flash on
  • Make sure you capture the entire receipt and use the crop functionality to remove the background
  • Make sure the picture is in focus and the text is clear
  • Capture the date and time in the picture
  • Hold your phone steady above the receipt while taking a picture
  • If you have a long receipt, capture the top and use 'add section' to add the rest

Can I throw out my paper receipt after I have captured it?

No, you will need to hold on to your paper receipts as a form of back-up.

How do I capture a long receipt in the mobile app?

For very long receipts, it's best to be in 'Manual' camera mode otherwise the receipt may be too far away from the camera to take a clear image with legible text:

  1. Take an image of the top part of the receipt in 'Manual' mode.
  2. Tap on 'Add Section' in the following screen.
  3. You'll see the first section of the receipt at the top of the screen. Now line up the next section of the receipt so that it matches and joins up with the first image.
  4. Tap on the circular capture button at the bottom of the screen get the image of the next section.
  5. Make sure they are seamlessly stitched together by sliding the previous image capture over the new capture to meet where the previous image ended.

How do I capture a two-sided receipt using the receipts feature in my mobile app?

Two-sided receipts should be captured in 'Manual' camera mode so you can get all the receipt details.

Take an image of the front of the receipt and tap on 'Add Section' to take an image of the back of the receipt.

Why is the automatic capture mode not working for me?

Automatic capture may be unsuccessful for a variety of reasons and the following are the most common:

  • There is not enough contrast between the background and the receipt so the camera has difficulty finding the edges of the receipt. Try taking a picture of the receipt against a dark background
  • You may not be still enough while taking the picture. The automatic capture will wait for a few seconds to get a lock on the receipt before capturing the image
  • There may not be enough light, which can indirectly contribute to the two problems above
  • The receipt may be ripped or bent, changing the shape of the receipt and it can no longer be detected by the camera. Try to flatten out any folded corners or switch to manual mode to take the image

Why can't I find my receipt that I just captured?

First check your internet connectivity. If you're offline, your receipt may not have been sent to our servers yet.

Once your connectivity is restored, it should become available. If you do have internet connectivity and you are still unable to find your receipt, then try the following:

  • Partial name matches do not always work when searching for receipts. If you are searching based on a product or merchant name, try spelling the entire word
  • Make sure all filters are turned off when you search, otherwise the receipt you're looking for may be hidden because of a filter
  • The receipt list only shows the most recent receipts, so you need to scroll down to retrieve older receipts
  • Check the 'Notification Centre' for any recently added receipts or receipts that need attention. This may give a quick link to your receipt
