How can we help you?

Round Ups is a tool in the mobile app which when turned on will round up your debit card spend to the nearest pound and send the spare change to your Savings account. You will need an eligible current account, an eligible instant access savings account and the mobile app.

How do I turn Round Ups on and off?

Turn on Round Ups through the mobile app by selecting your Current Account > Round Ups and following the steps there.

Round Ups starts working as soon as you turn it on, also applying to any debit card or contactless payments already pending. You’ll be able to see these pending transactions in your mobile app.

To turn off Round Ups in the mobile app select your Current Account > Round Ups and "Turn off Round Ups" at the bottom of the screen.

What Savings Accounts come with Round Ups?

Digital Regular Saver, Instant Saver, Premium Saver, Savings Builder, First Saver, Primary Savings, First Reserve.

Cash ISA, Help to Buy ISA, Fixed Rate ISA and Fixed Term Savings Account don't come with Round Ups.

When will I see my Round Ups?

Round Ups for payments clearing that day are added together and paid as one transaction. For example if you make a payment of £4.50 in a shop then ££15.20 online, £1.30 (£0.50 + £0.80) will be transferred from your current account to your savings account when the payments clear. This can take up to 4 days.

What are the four numbers on my Round Ups transaction?

On the debit transaction from your Current Account you’ll see the last four digits of your Savings account number you are sending your Round Ups to. E.g. ROUND UP TO 8636.

On the credit transaction to your Savings Account you’ll see the last four digits of your debit card number used for the transaction that is being rounded up. E.g. ROUND UP FROM 0453.

When will Round Ups not transfer money to my savings?

Round Ups won’t transfer to your savings account for the following reasons:

  • Your payment amount was a round pound e.g. £5.00
  • Your current account or chosen savings account has been closed
  • You're already in or would be taken into overdraft by the Round Ups amount
  • You have an auto transfer arrangement
  • Your debit card payment was rejected at the point of sale
  • Your debit card payment wasn’t in pounds sterling

I have a joint account; can I use Round Ups?

Round Ups is linked to your debit card. If you have a joint current account and you turn Round Ups on, only the payments made on your debit card will be rounded up. If both parties turn Round Ups on, then both of your payments will be rounded up. You can set up separate savings accounts to have your Round Ups transferred to or if you have a joint savings account, you can both choose that too, you’ll just see 2 sets of Round Ups transactions.

I have a Digital Regular Saver; can I use Round Ups?

Yes, Round Ups won’t count towards the monthly limit. You can continue to save by standing order or putting in extra money up to the monthly limit, and any Round Ups above the limit, will be added as extra saving.

If I close an account with Round Ups what happens?

Your Round Ups arrangement will stop. You can set up a new Round Ups arrangement with any eligible current account and eligible savings account that you still have open. It would be good practice to switch off Round Ups before you close the account.

What is Double Ups?

You can choose to double the amount we round up and transfer to your savings account. For example if you make a payment of £4.50 in a shop, if you choose Double Ups then instead of 50p being transferred we will transfer £1 to your savings account.

How do I turn Double Ups on and off?

If you're turning Round Ups on then you will see the option to Double Up. If you already have Round Ups turned on then in the mobile app select your Current Account > Round Ups and you'll see the option.

If you don't want to Double Up any more then in the mobile app select Current Account > Round Ups and you'll see the option.
