You can make a payment in the mobile app using just an account number and sort code, there may be times when you will need to include the reference/roll number of the account you are making a payment to; and you don't need to set up the payee in Online Banking first. If the payment is for a bill you may need to include the payment reference details.
- Select the 'Payments' button from the Home screen and ensure the preferred account is set to the account which you want to make the payment from, select 'Move Money' then 'Make a payment'. You can also select 'Payments' from the account menu then 'Make a payment'.
- Select 'Choose who to pay' and 'Pay someone new'.

With 'Pay Someone New' you can send a maximum of £1000 in a single payment. If you are making a number of smaller payments the sum of all such payments cannot exceed £1000 in a working day. You can make up to five payments in the same period. The recipient will not appear in your saved payees.
To ensure your money is safe, we will sometimes ask you to authorise a payment using Face ID/Touch ID on iOS, fingerprint on Android or your app passcode.
