What details do I need to pay my mortgage?

We've automatically set up the account details you need to send a payment online for your mortgage. There's no card-reader required, so if you haven't activated yours or received one yet, you can still make the payment to your mortgage.

Depending on when you took your mortgage out with us, we have 2 different accounts you can send your payment to. You'll need to make sure you send the payment to the right account, otherwise the payment may not credit your mortgage balance. If you think you've made a payment to the wrong details, you should contact us as soon as possible.

How do I work this out?

You'll need your mortgage account number to hand. This can be found on your annual statement, by logging in to Online Banking, or by contacting us.

  • Please remove any zeroes from the start of your mortgage account number.
  • If your mortgage account number starts with a 3 or a 7, choose the payee 'NatWest Mortgage Account Number Starting 3 or 7'.
  • If your mortgage account number starts with a 1, choose the payee 'NatWest Mortgage Account Number Starting With 1'.
  1. Log in to Online Banking at www.nwolb.com (opens in a new window)
  2. Select 'Payments and transfers' from the left hand menu
  3. Select 'Make a payment or transfer', then 'Pay someone new'
  4. Choose the relevant NatWest Mortgage Account payee as indicated above
  5. In the 'Their reference' field type your mortgage account number and your last name. The reference box will accept a maximum of 18 characters, so ensure your mortgage account number is there as a priority and type as much of your surname as you can
  6. Select 'Add payee' then the amount you want to pay and the date you wish the payment to be made
  7. Select 'Next' and on 'Step 2 of 3' please check the information you have entered carefully
  8. Select 'Confirm' to authorise your payment

Please note: It's very important that you select the right account for your mortgage, as well as ensuring your mortgage account number is included as a reference.

Things to consider

You should know that you can pay up to 10% of your mortgage balance annually. If you overpay this you may be charged with an Early Repayment Charge. Make sure you know how much you have available left to overpay by contacting us before you make an overpayment.
